Stained Glass Windows

Stained glass is made of sticking together many small pieces of color glasses. The design of stained glass had taken many forms throughout the centuries. Whenever the term stained glass is mentioned, everyone would straight away associate them with church. Through the years, the design of stain color glass had taken many different forms.

The history of stained glass goes back to more than one thousand year ago. Churches, cathedrals, chapels and many other religious buildings would have stained glass windows. In was only during the Victorian era that stained glass found its popularity into ordinary homes and other commercial buildings.

It requires high artistic skill to design, assemble and craft out the glasses that when stick together could fit into the space as it is intended for. That is the reason why in the past, stained glass is used only in churches. The reason is because only churches could well afford to engage and pay for such artisans. Artisans will sometimes take decades or hundreds of years to finish a master piece. Many of these stained glass windows produced during the Middle Ages still exist today.
